British comedian Rik Mayall was yesterday looking more likely to recover from serious injuries he suffered in a quad bike crash on his farm last week, his wife was reported as saying.
Mayall was flown to hospital unconscious following the Thursday evening crash on his farm in Devon, southwest England.
His wife Barbara, who has been at his bedside in the intensive care unit at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, said it appeared he would be OK, the Press Association Internet website reported.
"I am looking more optimistic," she was reported to have told journalists outside the hospital.
Mayall, 39, best known for his parts in television shows such as The Young Ones, The New Statesman and Bottom, was found by his wife trapped under the four-wheel motorcycle , the Daily Telegraph website reported.
Hospital staff reported him to be in a serious condition yesterday.
Britain's Channel 4 went ahead last night with a new programme, Four Men In a Car, in which Mayall stars. - NZPA
