Have had the printer powered on now for approx 4 months and having printed only a few documents I was shocked to see Brother MFC-J6510DW PrinterScanner low ink warning come on across basically all of the ink cartridges these are suppose to be fairly high capacity! Anyway I contacted Brother assuming they would ask for it to be returned and reinstate the lost ink but to my total surprise I was told that this was normal and won't be fixed. I then asked for escalation to a senior technician who again confirmed also that it was normal for brother printers to do this.

Apparently while they are plugged into power they chew through ink in randomly in self cleaning cycles. This also explained the noise every few hours from the printer while it was turned off cleaning itself. Although all printers need cleaning cycles I've never in the last 20 years of working in IT seen an inkjet printer cost so much to run or need to cycle this often! Most of mine have been Canon's, Epson's or other brands and you will get close to the rated capacity of Brother MFC-J6510DW PrinterScanner cartridges even with low usage.

Beyond the ink here is my feedback: Very noise as it constantly cleans itself 2. Setting up network scanning is like pulling teeth and in the end I gave up. Wasn't able to get it working on key operating systems, their software is not built to every OS and even though the download site says there is software this isn't exactly right, support Brother MFC-J6510DW PrinterScanner least confirmed this much was true.

Software is rubbish compared to that offered by other brands, I'm particularly use to Canon tools which I thought was average until being forced to use the Brother software and tools! Scanning is pretty hopeless, scan resolution is mediocre, basically no intelligence onboard to do image border detection or alignment that I've come to expect in a multi-function. It's a scanner from the dark ages. Print quality was pretty average on plain paper. Support were "unsupportive" and could not provide any useful information. Have been made to wait weeks for them to get back to me. Scanner often jams 9. Even A4 Paper tends to "fly off" the printer every time unless you have the flimsy support bracket fully extended given how massive size of the unit is pretty sad it needs this You can't really leave the arm out as Brother MFC-J6510DW PrinterScanner gets in the way of using control interface, so you end up closing it up and constantly chasing flying paper around the office.

Use VueScan to get them on your computer, and off your to-do list. My scanner, though perfectly good mechanically, had been orphaned heading into Windows 7.

VueScan brought it back into use, and the new version for Windows 10 carried that on. The winning factor for me was the true A3 size scanner, most A3 all in one machine's only Brother MFC-J6510DW PrinterScanner the A4 scanner capability.

The price was also a major factor in my choice. A terrific all round machine. My old all-in-one was a bit limited Brother MFC-J6510DW PrinterScanner I need to replace it with something better - I wanted a printer that could print at A3 size double-side printing on A3 was a Brother MFC-J6510DW PrinterScanner bonus and needed to retain scanning ability. I was sold!
